Oscars 2013 Decor

We here at Gotcha Covered are loving the Oscars buzz! We also love nothing more than a well dressed room so when we came across this image of Elton John's Oscar aftershow party we just couldn't resist sharing it with you.

The red theme dominates the room with charm and gives a romantic feel to it. We also love the amaryllis flower centre pieces giving a real sense of elegance to each table.

The Green Room for the Oscars was designed by Madeline Stuart. The room is used by stars waiting to present the awards and we just love the cosy feel it has with the mix of chairs and couches with coloured cushions giving the room a splash of vibrant colour. Madeline says she wanted to give the room "An Old Hollywood style" while still incorporating a modern feel to it.

Although the room was inspired by Old Hollywood there is certainly nothing old about the technology in the room. There was ten 55" Samsung Smart TVs so the stars missed none of the action from the awards ceremony

Well done to Madeline Stuart on her stunning room design! We are already looking forward to seeing the decor for next years Oscars!

Tips for your wedding!

Your wedding day can be a stressful experience if you have not planned everything correctly. Below are some tips to help make your day stress free!

1. Make a schedule for the day: To eliminate stress on the day it is a good idea to sit down  a few days before the wedding and make a time schedule for the day involving every detail down to hair and make up and even relaxing with close friends and family the morning of the wedding .

2. Choose your first dance carefully: Choose a song that means something to you both and will connect you both on the dance floor. Be sure to rehearse the dance as there is nothing worse then worrying about dance moves instead of enjoying your first official dance together.

3. Open a wedding account: The best way to keep track of your wedding finances is to open an account that is solely dedicated to all your wedding plans. That way you can keep track of all money going in and out.

4. Get some help: Planning a wedding takes up a lot of time and unless you have spare time during the week you will find yourself getting bogged down with all the planning and organisation. Avail of services such as wedding planners to help keep the stress of planning to a minimum.

5. Always carry a notebook: You never know where you will be when you get an inspired wedding idea! You may think you will remember them but it can get lost amid all the other things going on in your head. Carrying a notebook with you will ensure you get all your thoughts or ideas written down.

6. Take your time walking down the aisle: With nerves and excitement taking over most brides don't realise how fast they are walking down the aisle making it hard for photographers and videographers to capture the moment

7. Keep track of your guests: Using an online spreadsheet and inputting all details such as name, address, RSVP and menu or diet requirements will cut time considerably when making a table plan.

8. Send directions to church/hotel with invitations: This is something that can save you a lot of hassle and a lot of phone calls on the day!

9. Assign a dresser for the day: This can sometimes be forgotten about but it is important that someone knows how to put your dress on you. Have a rehearsal a few days before so they know exactly how to get you into it properly. This can be useful when you need to go to the bathroom too!

10. Assign someone to take gifts/cards: Have someone assigned to take any gifts or cards and take down names of who gave them on the day. There is nothing worse then not knowing who gave you a gift on the day when writing thank you cards.

What dress style suits you?

Us wonderful women come in all shapes and sizes! That's why its important to find the right dress style to suit your body.

Here are some different styles of dresses for different body shapes:

Mermaid Gown: The mermaid gown is fitted but flares out at the knee (or lower). This dress is great for showing of the curvy body and is most suited to women with an hourglass figure.

Ball Gown: A ball gown has a fitted bodice and a dramatic full skirt. Busty brides will suit this style of dress as it creates balanced proportions.

Trumpet Gown: With this style dress the skirt flares out just below the hips creating a semi full skirt without extra volume and bulk. Again this dress would suit women with an hourglass figure.

A-line Gown: This flattering style of dress hugs the torso and has a flared skirt thus giving it an A- shape. This style of dress would best suit girls with a fuller figure and a larger bust.

Empire- waist gown: In this style the skirt extends from the bust line. This style is great for pear-shaped brides as it disguises the hips.

Sheath gown: This slim fitted dress hugs the body from head to toe and is well suited to the slimmer brides who want to show off their figure.

Find the right shade for your skin type:

Go for: Bright white

Skin tone: Medium with olive tones
Go for: Champagne or diamond white

Skin tone: Medium with yellow tones
Go for: Off-white or creamy ivory

Skin tone: Fair and pink-toned skin
Go for: Ivory
